Navigating E-list Change
From the TechTalk column of PawPrint
By Leslie Intemann
Have you thought about mailing lists lately? Probably not. But with more than 3,500 Cornell Information Technologies-hosted lists serving more than 400,000 members worldwide, chances are you belong to several lists. You should know that as of fall 2005, mailing lists aren't the same anymore. Better, yes. Easier, yes. Different? Yes.
Why? Because CIT has been upgrading its list management software from ListProc to Lyris, and the migration is gaining speed. During the transition from fall 2005 through spring 2006, you'll need to know whether Lyris or ListProc is handling your list before you can join or leave. Visit www.cit.cornell.edu/computer/elist/which.html for details.
